  • Outdoor Learning

We pride ourselves on the quality of our outside provision. We have worked hard to provide quality outdoor spaces that enrich our curriculum. Teachers use the outside area in a variety of ways. We acknowledge that some children learn best when they can learn outside.

As part of dedicated outdoor learning lessons children integrate modern technologies alongside environmental learning. Children are taught how make dens, light fires along with gaining a respect for the environment and the awe and wonderment of the world around us. Children apply their geographical skills through orienteering and geo cashing.

We have extensive gardens where children grow a range of vegetables and fruits. We also have chickens and a school rabbit called Wonky. Produce from gardens are used by the children in their cookery and outdoor learning lessons. This helps the children to understand where our food comes from and how it can contribute to a healthy lifestyle.

Our dedicated Eco garden also has a wooden gazebo which means that children can experience outdoor learning come rain or shine.

Outdoor learning is led by staff who have undergone Forest schools training.
