World's tallest spaghetti building

March 28, 2018

STEM Club finished the term with a competition to see who could build the tallest marshmallow and spaghetti tower:

We discovered along the way that triangles make the strongest shape, as they can direct force down their sides but unfortunately not all of us managed to utilise this in our designs and the towers collapsed in final testing:

We also discussed how the world’s tallest buildings use antennas and other thin spires to gain their final height, sneaky!

Our eventually winners were Jack, Niks and Michael, with a tower of 66cm high!
